The Norwegian Business School BI Presidential Scholarship is a prestigious opportunity for students with outstanding academic achievements who have been admitted to any MSc program at either the Oslo or Bergen campus.

This scholarship is open to both Norwegian and international applicants and provides full tuition coverage and a stipend for up to two years, subject to academic progress

BI Presidential Scholarship Overview:

The BI Norwegian Business School, the largest in Norway and second largest in Europe, offers the BI Presidential Scholarship annually to international students pursuing master’s degrees.

BI has four campuses, with the main one located in Oslo, and is home to over 18,000 students and 845 staff members. Since 1983, BI has produced more than 200,000 graduates, making it the leading provider of economic and administrative expertise in Norway.

Scholarship Benefits:

Norwegian Applicants: Full tuition for up to two years, contingent on meeting academic progress requirements.
International Applicants: Full tuition and a living stipend for up to two years, covering about 70% of living expenses.

Eligibility Requirements for Norway scholarship for international students:

To be considered for the BI Presidential Scholarship, applicants must meet the following conditions:

  • Academic Excellence: A strong academic record, with a minimum GPA of ‘A’ on the ECTS scale or the equivalent top grade on an international scale.
  • Norwegian or International Citizenship: Open to applicants from all nationalities.
  • Program Admission: Only students admitted to MSc programs at the Oslo or Bergen campuses (excluding the BI-Luiss Joint Masters in Marketing) are eligible.
  • Academic Progress: Scholars must maintain full study progression (30 ECTS each semester) and a minimum GPA of ‘B’ after each semester to retain the scholarship.
  • Ambassadorship: Scholarship recipients are expected to serve as BI Ambassadors, promoting the school and contributing to the student environment.

Application Note

  • Scholarship Availability: The competition is fierce, with more applications than scholarships available each year.
  • Application Process: Only those who have been admitted to a Master of Science program and applied as instructed will be considered. BI ensures scholarships are distributed across MSc programs, prioritizing diversity, gender balance, and institutional priorities.
  • Evaluation: Applicants are assessed based on their academic achievements, and additional factors such as GMAT/GRE/CAT scores, extracurricular activities, and personal achievements may be considered.

Notification and Acceptance:

  • Admission First: Scholarship decisions are not sent with the admission offer. You must accept the admission offer while awaiting the scholarship decision.
  • Timeline: Scholarship notifications are sent throughout the admissions cycle, with final decisions communicated by the end of April. Applicants for the A. Wilhelmsen Foundation Scholarship and the BI-Luiss Joint Master in Marketing Scholarship will receive their results later in the spring.
  • No Appeals: Scholarship decisions are final and cannot be appealed.

Method of Application

If you are a candidate interested in applying for the BI Presidential Scholarship in Norway, you should;

  • Apply for admission to a Master’s degree at Norwegian Business School.
  • Always apply for a scholarship at the same time as you apply for admission on the online application portal.
  • Write a scholarship application letter, maximum one-page, outlining why you should be considered for this scholarship. Scholarships are awarded based on academic merit, not on financial need.
  • Upload it to the section marked ‘Scholarship’ in your online application for admission.
  • Include all the required documentation to be evaluated for admission to a Master of Science programme. The scholarship application will only be considered if a complete application for admission has been submitted and the offer of admission is accepted.
  • BI students currently in their 3rd year of the Siviløkonom programme, can apply the spring of their 3rd year by sending a scholarship application letter to info@bi.no with the subject line: BI Presidential Scholarship Application
  • International applicants who apply for the BI Presidential Scholarship will also be considered for the MSc International Scholarship. A separate scholarship application letter is not required.
